V/A live at the subsonic vol. 3 (2003)

Third installment of the "Live at the Subsonic" series with a Nitwitz track, recorded at the (Doh) Subsonic, Montpellier France ca 2002. I can't remember the band line-up, which changed every single year. Alcohol damages the brain. Another Nitwitz tune recorded at Subsonic ended up on "Deathrattle and roll" from the great Wondertaker Records label out of San Francisco.

01) American heartbreak - superstar
02) Los Bastardos - Rocknroll asshole
03) Church of Confidence - (Whatever happened to) west berlin
04) Cowboys from outer space - waiting for your love
05) Darlington - Gisele and me
06) Dumbell - suicide bullets
07) Lost Disciples - Strange kind of magic
08) Neurotic Swingers - speed drinker
09) The Nitwitz - Landmine Heart
10) Polyplush cats - Rain
11) Sonic Assassin - Set My Brain on Fire
12) Starshit - Midway Motel
13) Streetwalking Cheetahs - Freakout Man
14) The 1's - I like drugs
15) The Apers - It's OK to hate me

Nitwitz / Hellacopters "RnR Jihad" 45

Nitwitz / Hellacopters "RocknRoll Jihad" 45 was released in 1998 on my own RocketDog label.
The sleeve art was made by frontman of Swedish Grammy award winners 96 the Hellacopters frontman, former Hydromatics drummer and all-round wunderkind Nick Royale.

The Nitwitz cut "Jackass" is identical to the version that appeared on the Nitwitz album Dark Side of the Spoon.

5 seperate pressings of "RocknRoll Jihad" exist, in an array of dazzling vinyl/label/sleeve colors. Collect them all !

V/A - Tribute to Brezhnev

BREZHNEV were an Amsterdam band favored by the local "faster and louder" hardcore crowd who weren't bad, but their brand of 10th generation, formulaeic carbon-copy hardcore punk paled in comparison to what B.G.K. had done 15 years earlier.
I'm not a big fan of "tribute albums" anyways and wasn't interested in being part of a "Tribute album" much less for a band we owed absolutely nothing. Just because they're nice guys doesn't mean we have to play on a Tribute album for them.
The other Nitwitz insisted we had to "do something for Brezhnev" out of comradery and eventually I gave in, under the condition they'd let me choose the song.
Naturally picking their only non-political tune, the embarassingly titled "Granny gives good head", which Brezhnev would probably rather forget about, and so would I, hearing our version of it :

Grandma Gives good head

Out of budget considerations, each band got a full hour of studio time to set up, get a "Sound" in a room no bigger than a broomcloset and record, with matchbox sized transistor amps. AND I AM SUPPOSED TO ROCK IN HERE ?
Being at the mercy of some sound weasel didn't help either. Adding insult to injury that geek wouldn't let me do any overdubs as there was "no more time for that".

STOP ! It's hammertime. I mean dinnertime (as opposed to Slugman time).

Pick up the whole album here. Take heed friends : you'll be sorry God gave you ears.

As fate would have it, Brezhnev vocalist Mike Dogshit (sometimes "McDogshit") would end up in the Nitwitz for a while later, as would bassplayer Jevin "Dick Ginger". Their drummer Oeb would in turn replace Nitwitz drummer the Gadge in the Felchers but that's another story.

Nitwitz - Nibble the Giblet

Kokine : chained heat

The "Nibble the Giblet" 10" inch was slammed together as a quickie so we could have something to sell on tour. Limited to 500 copies, it contains outtakes, rarities as well as the "Dark Side of the Spoon" demos (recorded by Jack Endino) financed and consequently rejected by Epitaph in 1996.
Unbeknownst to the band, Pitshark Records put a picture on the record cover of gagged and chained topless woman chained to what appears to be a cage. A sassy French-Moroccan piece of ass by the name of Kokine (HERE, yo) so succulent and tender, that several constipated German dorks promptly got their lederhosen in a bunch over it, and cancelled our shows for being "sexist".

V/A - Als je haar maar goed zit

This legendary compilation LP came out on the Nitwitz own Vögelspin 'label' in May 1982, shortly before the band morphed into B.G.K. sans vocalist Eric Peters, who went on to start a "fun punk" band called Outrageous with Frankie Sloos (who was to become Loveslug's drummer later). 1500 copies were pressed. It contains 3 Nitwitz tracks that capture - to my knowledge - the fastest 4/4 drumbeat ever recorded. No fooling people, it's manically INSANE. Anyways, the material on this LP re-appeared entirely on this bootleg but you can purchase a digitized, legal copy here if you don't want to fetch out $ 200 on Ebay.

V/A - The Basement Tapes

Track List
Loveslug - You sexy thing
Big Paulus - Get down (live)
Black Label - Come back
Speedloop - Stuck in the middle
The Nitwitz - Get there first
The Sgeurvreters - Kidnapper
Rude Rich & The Highnotes - Lion of Judah(live)
Loveslug - Bimb-o-rama MTV
The Hydromatics - Heaven (live)
Black Label - You'll have to wait
Big Paulus - Baby, now that I found you
Speedloop - You make me feel (mighty real)
The Sgeurvreters - Ramble
Rude Rich & The Highnotes - Man next door
The Nitwitz/ feat. DJ Mike - Surfin' on Insuline

Serious cross-fertilisation on this, ahem, star-studded compilation :
  • Loveslug drummer Frankie Sloos is in Big Paulus
  • Theo Brouwer (Big Paulus) also played on the Nitwitz, Speedloop, Sgeurvreters, and Hydromatics cuts. He is now in the Consultants
  • "DJ" Mike was in Loveslug
  • Benito Gasolini (RIP): Nitwitz, Speedloop

V/A - 100% Pure Dutch punk hardcore

Yay ! Another bootleg.
I'm not sure if this originates from that Belgian guy who once wrote me "requesting permission" for his label to re-release both "Als je haar maar goed zit" compilations "else I'll do it anyways" or if these street urchin punk assholes are responsible for this release. It has GOT to be mastered off vinyl because if I can't get the source tapes, no one can.

The pressing plant identification number on each of these CDs has been painstakingly, manually erased with an engraver, so they knew they did something naughty/illegal.

So much for the bootleggers 'argument' that "we're doing it for the scene, man". No, you don't do it for "the scene". You do it to make money. Money off MY hard work and efforts. As the bootleggers from "punk rock from Holland" LP state literally in the liner notes, even. Funny how these bootlegs seem to get better distribution than legit releases btw. Anywhooo, there's tunes by both the Nitwitz and B.G.K. on this thing from 1981 and 1983 respectively.

Don't buy this shit folks.

V/A - I'm sure we're gonna make it

Bloody Revolutions scribbled the following shit :
"I'm Sure We're Gonna Make It" is a compilation-cd with singles of Dutch first generation punkbands (1977-1982). These singles are often self-released in a limited edition. The CD is a 1996 Epitaph release. This CD goes with the book "Het Gejuich Was Massaal" ("The Cheering Was Massive"), ("the crowd roared" or "the applause was deafening" would be a more accurate translation - TS) the history of punk in The Netherlands, compiled by Jerry Goossens and Jeroen Vedder ( - no relation to Eddie, TS) and published by Stichting Popmuziek Nederland & Uitgeverij Jan Mets, Amsterdam in 1996.
Thank you Bloody Revolutions.
This CD was promptly (almost instantly upon it's release) bootlegged in the form of a double album titled "Killed by Epitaph".
The Nitwtz track came off the "Wielingen Walgt" live 12" (recorded live february 1981) and was mastered off pure, poppin-and-a-crackling vinyl ! Btw, that bass intro is all downstrokes, homes. Goes to show some things never change.

"I'm sure we're gonna make it" arguably is thee motherload for fans of obscure, early Lowlander punk.

Track Listing:
1. Ivy Green - I'm Sure We're Gonna Make It (3.44)

Nitwitz - Nuke rock city video

Violent imagery and manly rock poses in this video I made for a power ballad by the Nitwitz called "Nuke Rock City".
The song parodies the "Groningen Rock City" and "Eindhoven Rock City" mini hype in the Netherlands.

Nitwitz - Nitwitz rule Spain video

Attention Piggly Wiggly customers,
This is another fine piece of handcraft straight from the desk of Sluggy : an animated video for the tune "The Nitwitz Rule Spain", which as everyone knows, is based on a true story. It was made in Flash, and needless to say I lost the entire source code. Duh.

What the ... ?

Somebody actually wrote an essay(!) on the Nitwitz / B.G.K. and you have to shell out 4,99 British pounds to read it ! Boy, that's ironic.
For what it's worth, here's

Nitwitz - Overreactor video

This is an animated video for "Overreactor" by the Nitwitz that I made for personal enjoyment. Embedded from MySpace means loading will probably be less than smooth, but I lost the damn source so it's all I got. The Gadge is on drums, and Mikey Offender (RIP) plays the bass.

V/A - Here's Fifty Bucks

The ultimate soundtrack to that beating you took as a kid
A full blast ROCK assault released on my own RocketDog label in 2004, after 4 years of toiling and scrounging for spare change between the seams of my beat up couch to finance it. There's not one stinker in the bunch folks. The mindboggling artwork by Vince Ruarus is a feast to behold (wait til you see the inlay), and you get an international cast of first class miscreants who shell out copious amounts of whomp the way you like it :

GLUECIFER (Norway) : God's chosen dealer
PLEASURE FUCKERS (Spain) : Electric fence
GEDS (USA) : Burnt city
NITWITZ (Holland) : Rock pusher
CANDY SNATCHERS (USA) : Run you down
UNION 69 (Sweden / USA) : Mongo magnet
BIG PAULUS (Holland) : Love train
THE SINISTERS (Canada) : Capt. Weirdo
PUFFBALL (Sweden) : Finger on the trigger
BOSS 302 (USA) : Failure
CELLOPHANE SUCKERS (Germany) : Bust riot
STREETWALKIN' CHEETAHS (USA) : Inside
TURPENTINES (Sweden) : She belongs to Jesus
DOWN'N'OUTS (USA) : Can't go on
PLUNGERS (USA/Japan) : Lost city lovers
POWDER MONKEYS (Australia) : I like pills
SPEEDHOLES (USA) : City of the living dead
JEFF DAHL (USA) : I'm in love with the G.T.O.'S (Live)

Nitwitz - Dark Side of the Spoon

Almost four years of sanity shredding setbacks before we got this bitch out, and whaddyaknow, mere weeks later Ministry releases an album with the same title. Just my luck.

Adding insult to injury, we got stiffed by the label, GET HIP.

Nitwitz - mouldy oldies

First Nitwitz EP (1980)
Second Nitwitz EP (1981)
Nitwitz / Gotterfliez live 12" (1981)
All in one tidy, handy package !

Recorded feb. 1981 live at "De Wielingen" squathouse in Amsterdam, a former orphanage/school building, where both bands rehearsed (in the actual mortuary in the basement, which also got flooded regularly).

Living in a broom closet was a homeless schizophrenic human scarecrow named Mark, AKA "Mark from the broomcloset" who I once caught in the kitchen, "frying" a dead, half-plucked pigeon that he had scraped from the sidewalk. Dousing it royally with a bottle of Sherry, he asked if I'd care for "a bite to eat". Declining the offer, this sordid image would still forever be embedded in, and haunt my spaced out brain. In fact it would find it's way into another Nitwitz song, "Drunk Tank Celebrity" a decade and a half later that appeared on DARK SIDE OF THE SPOON, and in a different Jack Endino produced form on NIBBLE THE GIBLET. I swear this shit is true.

Other bands on the bill that fateful night (who however declined the offer to appear on the record for some reasom) were future heartthrobs TROCKENER KECKS and polit-jazzpunkers(?) THE EX.

Cover art for "Wielingen Walgt" by Peter Pontiac, who also created covers for albums by my later bands B.G.K. and Loveslug.

750 copies were pressed of the 7" ers, 1500 copies of the 12" exist. Most of this material has since been bootlegged numerous times as original copies fetch a small fortune on Ebay. No I don't have a box full of these things under the bed. So unless you want to break your little brother's piggy bank, PICK IT UP HERE.

DISCLAIMER : I DID NOT UPLOAD THIS FILE. I DID, HOWEVER, WRITE THE SONGS, OWN THE COPYRIGHTS THEREOF AND PLAY ON THEM, WHICH MEANS I CAN DO WITH THEM WHAT EVER I WANT.
